Car dimmer illumination?

In my 2001 blazer some smoke started comin out by the air vent by the lights next to the dimmer and few days before I installed a radio and a new amp but I checked if any wires were touching and there weren't and now the dash light dimmer doesn't work so I need to fix it cuz dats my only car and I gotta drive at night too....so please help???
