Facebook mobile settings not working?

I have got the samsung galaxy s mobile and i have facebook already downloaded on, ths problem is i set my settings on facebook mobile to make my phone vibrate and make the facebook pop noise the problem is its not dong so. It doesnt do anytbing except make my notification panel pop down to let me know. Can anybody help? Thank you
