Was Abraham Lincoln a conservative Republican?

Yes, the South used to vote solid Democrat for every generation out of anger that a republican freed the slaves. It's only when JFK AND LBJ helped to end Jim Crow Laws and advance civil rights that the south turn solid republican, again just out of anger of African Americans getting more rights. And yes, MLK was a republican, many African Americans were before the 60's.
